ABOUT ME
Hello, everyone!
My name is Maggie Fitzgerald and I am a multi-skilled journalist at 13WMAZ, a top-rated CBS affiliate in Macon, GA.
I currently serve Central Georgia communities just an hour south of Atlanta and specialize in breaking news, hard news and political development stories.
I am a proud graduate from Temple University’s Lew Klein College of Media and Communication with a degree in broadcast journalism. I graduated as an award-winning producer and anchor for Temple University's weekly live newscast, "Temple Update." I also served as Main Host and Executive Producer of Temple University TV's very own entertainment talk show, "Temple Talk."
I received a number of awards through my years at Temple that include the 2024 Jim Gardner Journalism Prize, the 2022 Jessica Savitch Broadcast Journalism Award and the 2024 Temple University Diamond Award, which is the highest recognition by Student Affairs given to a Temple University undergraduate student.
I was also named a Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy Awards 2024 Finalist, IBS Media Awards Finalist, and was awarded Third Place in CBI's National Student Production Awards for exclusive coverage of an off-campus home invasion that made national headlines in Fall 2023. I also served as a proud student member of the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia.
Outside of Temple, I pursued various competitive internships at ABC, CBS and NBC.
My passion for news and entertainment has always driven me to pursue opportunities where I could learn from the best.
This passion led me to intern at 6ABC Action News in Philadelphia, CBS Philadelphia, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at 30 Rock, where I gained hands-on experience and deepened my love for storytelling and media.
I am a South Jersey native and grew up right outside of Philadelphia...I am a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan!
When I am not working, I like to explore new restaurants, stay active, and spend time with my loved ones, especially my golden retriever, Murphy.
I am also a lifelong ambassador for Alex's Lemonade Stand, a pediatric cancer research foundation based in Philadelphia, PA.
I encourage you to explore this website and check out some of my work.
Please feel free to follow me on socials and reach out to me with any questions or comments.
